In the early spring of 2014 our boy - Silas - was only 3 years old, and this was when we discovered the rare Stage 2 beneign Melanoma tumor intertwined in his tiny spine. Immediately after diagnosis he had succesful surgery at Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark. Fastforward now to May 2015. Our family has moved to New York, USA. Silas is followed by the dedicated and incredibly talented staff, doctors and professors at NYU Langone. During routine MRI we learn reoccurrence of the tumor. Silas has surgery and this time a month of intense proton radiation. Fall 2016 our boy is now 6 years old and living a normal life. Happy, playing, learning, growing - only a few minor issues and naturally the regular MRIs we have to go through.

The Children's Cancer Fund is doing great work and once you have had cancer up close like we have you just know how terrifying and life changing it is to go through, for any family. All things considered, we have been extremely fortunate. We are thankful. But it is all hands on deck to stop cancer. Particularly, in children. No child should come into this world and start their lives so roughly. This is why I reach out to you in an effort to continue to help The Children's Cancer Fund to raise ressources to help advance research, information and treatment.
